A little late I know, but you see I had to gather evidence! (Procrastination)
I do NOT believe in New Year's Day! You must find this weird because I find it weird! I feel like a miser at times. Maybe I have lost hope in the prospect of change. You know what............it goes even deeper...because.... deep down, I don't even believe in the calender, or months or days. (other than my birthday, Valentine's Day etc.. of course! Personally for me, all these milestones are just humans' attempt to control everything around them, including time, which is simply impossible. In my opinion, time simply continues and we, we have no control or prediction of it. We just simply fade slowly as time ticks. Time jeers at us as we pile on the age and un-shiftable fat, yet we take for granted the tomorrow that is not even promised to us. So purrrlease...all this nonsense of New Year's resolutions.....Bull Poo Poo!
You can see that your life is unhappy, it is crap, yet you want to wait until the 1st of January to make a feeble attempt to fix it! Why?! What is the difference between the 31st of December and the 1st of Januray? Nothing?! It is just pure procrastination, possible mental retardation, laziness and lack of self motivation. If I started to contiously slap your face....HARD, would you not move out the way immediately to prevent further discomfort or are you going to say,
"Don't vorry, my vriend. I vill move away vrom your slapping hand vhich is actually hurting me in ve New Year's!" (Russian accent). Despite the fact unless you have seriously annoyed me, I might abandon slapping you before then, I think the same principle goes for just about everything in life. If you don't like it, change it up...immediately!
New Year's day, we all send and receive text messages, calls, emails, even owls wishing "Happy New Year's!" It is the norm I suppose, that is GREAT, cool! But then...... you will also always get that RANDOM message or whatever from a person you so gladly left behind with all of that drama in the previous year. Believe it or not, because I can't, I received a FAT WHOPPER SIX messages from ex- friends, acquaintances who suddenly realised that they have offended me and I have therefore dismissed them from my peripheral view, imagination, dreams, nightmares, life and mind. You get my drift right? They are totally gone, like the sun in an eclipse, like a mistake under tip-ex, like some peoples' dads after they learn they going to be a father............ LOL! Yes! It's like that. AND THEN, they remember you, as if all that New Year's drink and firework ignites some "not so common" sense, remorse and memory in their skulls! I am suddenly asking myself, if it a fashion to apologise, kiss and make up just because it is a "New Year"? What happened to being proper and decent and doing all that as soon as you realised your misdemeanour? Or is it a feeble attempt to clear your dirty conscious by a weak apology "just because it is a New Year!" What you can't sleep? Did your pastor say, "Unless you right last years' wrong, this year won't be any different?"
So I consulted the opinions of the all-knowing and super amazing mother of mine. And of course, first thing she did was to curse me out for having such people in my life, rants on about acting your age and then she finally told me what I knew I had to anyway! Silly woman! She is always RIGHT! Forgive and learn! As much as I would like to be difficult and hope they never have a good nights sleep ever again, I know it is just long and unworthy of that much brain juice.
I don't believe in all this "Brand New Person" nonsense or "Fresh Starts" Poo! But what I will accept is that we all will accept the mistakes we have made, sort them out and learn from them. To "start afresh" defeats every purpose in the book of fixing. So if I am acting different to you, it is not because one of us is "born again" homie!! It is because, I have been taught a lesson and I don't intend to repeat that class thanks.
In conclusion, I suggest we all learn to take action to better our lives as soon as we realise where and what it is lacking. You really may not have that tomorrow you are so heavily banking on. Instead of this "I am a new person" or "Let's start our relationship a new!" Why not sit down, and talk about what went wrong and promise to never make those mistakes again! LEARN and love!
